After a long Polar Night, the light has returned, and the landscape has come to life. Our local navigators will take us out into the endless Arctic landscape.
When you arrive at the dog yard, your guide will provide an introduction about how to be a “musher” – the person who drives a dog team. This includes learning the basic techniques to control the sled, observe the dogs and be a teammate. The ruthless energy of the dogs is catching, while their enthusiastic barking and growling will leave you in no doubt that they are eager to head off. We harness and team up the dogs and, when everyone is ready, we drive out into the Arctic wilderness and into one of the nearby valleys.
The sled glides silently as the dog team navigates through the snow-covered landscape. Witnessing the pure power of the dogs and their eagerness to run is a remarkable experience. As an extra dimension to this nature-based experience in the wide-open Arctic landscape, you might catch a glimpse of a Svalbard reindeer or Arctic fox wandering past.

When the dogs have led us back to the dog yard, it’s time to put them back in their kennels and thank them for a memorable trip. You can wander around the dog yard and cuddle with the dogs, who are always keen to make new friends. Before returning to civilisation, we visit Svalbard Husky’s cabin to warm up and reflect on our adventure while enjoying a hot drink and something to eat.
