Welcome to the Arctic Fjord cruise with MS Bard. We take you on a unique boat trip in Isfjorden, where wind and weather conditions decide the destination, and the goal is nature and wildlife.
The captain of MS Bard sets the course according to today’s wind and weather conditions. This trip has no planned route or destination, but the captain will always choose the best route based on the conditions and recent wildlife sightings. In other words, today’s goal is to hunt for the best experiences.
The variations of the Arctic seasons are unique. From ice-covered fjords in May to the midnight sun and rust-colored mountains in July to spectacular sunsets from the end of August to the end of the season.
The wildlife also varies, where walruses and seals are very common to see in the first part of the season, the whales mostly come in August. On land, you can see both reindeer and arctic fox, while – with extra luck – you can also see the king of Svalbard. The polar bear often wanders along the ice edge or along the beach in search of food, and we can enjoy the sight of these mighty animals from a safe distance.
We also sail past cultural monuments and historical places, and our guides ensure an unforgettable experience for all the senses.
MS Bard is a new catamaran for day cruises, specially built to leave the smallest possible footprint in the Arctic nature. The hybrid electric motor is gliding silently through the water and makes the trip very quiet and peaceful.
The boat has a modern design with a spacious layout. You can move around on several outdoor decks or enjoy the view from inside through the massive panoramic windows. Comfortable lounges are located both outside and inside. There is plenty of space on board and everyone can enjoy Svalbard’s endless and spectacular landscape without crowds. Inside the lounge, you will find a cafe and bar with a varied selection of snacks and drinks.
