Polar Night Dog Sledding

During the mystical Polar Night, all the natural light comes from sources such as the moon, stars and the Northern Lights. The best way to experience this special season is by gliding silently through the snow-covered landscape on a dog sled.

Polar Night magic

Our dog yard is situated in the Advent Valley, beneath Mine 6 and near the entrance to the Todalen valley. On arrival at the dog yard, you will meet our four-legged friends and get to know them before we provide instructions about how to “mush” (drive) a team of polar dogs. Dog sledding is a physical activity, which involves handling the dogs and having close contact with them. You will become well acquainted with your dog team while experiencing the joys of the Polar Night.

After helping harness and team up the dogs, we set off in pairs on a dog sled into the Polar Night. Our eager and energetic huskies will take you on an adventure you will long remember. We will experience the Arctic silence, the power of the dogs and, if we are lucky, the Northern Lights. When we return to the dog yard, you can help the guide to put the dogs back in their kennels before it’s time to greet the other dogs and cuddle with the puppies.

Supplier of this activity: Svalbard Husky (own booking terms apply to trips provided by Svalbard Husky).
